The holidays are such a busy time of year. It is always hard thinking of a great neighbor treat that doesn’t take a lot of time. One of my favorites is cinnamon roasted crock pot almonds. They make such an amazing treat and neighbor gift.
Buying the cinnamon almonds at the mall is so expensive. It is so easy to make them at home, and they come together pretty quickly. The cinnamon adds the perfect spice to these almonds. They roast to perfection.
Start with an egg white and vanilla coating on the almonds. This helps the cinnamon and sugars to coat and stick to the almonds while roasting. Spread them out on a cookie sheet to keep them from clumping together.
I love how the aroma of cinnamon fills your house. It smells like Christmas while they are roasting. They are crunchy and sweet and have the perfect amount of cinnamon spice. I must warn you; they are a pretty addicting snack!

I love candied nuts! I have wondered about doing it in the slow cooker, but never tried. I am changing that this year. These would be perfect as part of my edible gifts for Christmas!

How long do you leave the almonds on the cookie sheet for? Does the coating dry? Because I would the try out this recipe, and put the almonds in containers when done cooking.

Amyon November 27, 2019 at 6:27 pm
The coating does dry. Just make sure that you leave the almonds on the cookie sheet until the coating is dry. And then you can put them in containers. I love putting these in jars and giving them for Christmas gifts. Good luck and enjoy. Thank you for coming by and leaving a question.

Is it possible to double or triple the recipe?
Reply
Amyon December 7, 2019 at 10:50 am
I have never tried it. I would think that it is OK to double the recipe, but you will have to watch the cooking time to make sure that you almonds get cooked. Personally, I would not triple it. I was thinking that if it were me, I would probably use as many crock pots as I was making batches and just make them at the same time. I realize that not everybody has more than one crock pot, but maybe you could borrow one! Thank you for the question. I hope that you enjoy the cinnamon roasted almonds as much as we do.

These are so good! Can they be made in a roaster? I need to make a bunch. 🙂

Amyon December 8, 2019 at 8:13 pm
I think that you might be better off to borrow a couple of crock pots and make them all at the same time in the crock pots. I feel like you can 1 1/2 times the batch and be okay. I am not sure if a roaster’s heat is even or not. I hope this helps! Happy Holidays! 🙂

How many jars and what size did you recipe fill?
Reply
Amyon December 12, 2019 at 10:50 pm
To tell you the truth, I don’t really know because I always end up putting them in different containers. I am thinking about 4 pints. I hope that that helps. Thank you for coming by.

Did not come out at all. Too much sugar; clumpy mess! I followed the recipe and directions exactly. Stuck to the wax paper. I only managed to salvage a quarter cup out of the whole recipe. What an expense!

So sorry for your mishap! I wonder if your crock pot was too hot or they didn’t cooked long enough, as each one is different? Might have been the altitude? The most important thing is to spread onto the waxed paper while they are still hot, then allow them to cool completely and dry. Sorry again.

I will be making these for our safe-at-home renaissance festival next weekend and have a couple of questions:
1} After the almonds cook for the initial 3.5 hours, is the crock pot meant to be left on low temperature for the additional 30 min after the water is added?
2} After adding the water, is the lid meant to stay on?
Thank you!

Amyon October 11, 2020 at 2:27 pm
The crock pot is meant to stay on low. Also if your crock pot is a fast and hot pot, you may want to add the water at 3 hours. I leave my lid on the whole time except when stirring, the almonds. Also if the almonds look a little dry feel free to add an extra Tablespoon of water. Best of luck and I hope they are a big hit for you. Thank you for your questions! 😉

Hi there – am I meant to turn the crockpot OFF, after I’ve added the water, for that additional 30 minutes? Thanks!

No, leave the crockpot on then after 30 minutes place the Almonds on a tray.
