The most recent video is an AMA - Ask Me Anything. I love doing these because my viewers never fail to submit great questions, and I love answering them. I chose some serious questions that will be helpful for your cooking, and some non-serious questions that I think make for an entertaining video. 😉
One of the questions I loved most in this video is the one in the title: Do Thai People Eat Pad Thai (if they have other choices)?
I had to laugh when I read this because of what the question implies. The asker obviously thinks that somehow pad thai is NOT something that Thai people eat…if we have other choices. I wonder where this idea came from!
I WILL say, and this I did not mention in the video, that 95% of the pad thai in N. America is not anything like pad thai in Thailand. So if the question was “Do Thai people eat the ketchup-laden pad thai that is served in American Thai restaurants?” Then the answer is no. 😂
I have gotten similar questions about pineapple fried rice. Many people seem to think that this is not a real Thai dish. (Spoiler: It is. It’s not a popular one, but it certainly exists.)
Are there dishes that you see in restaurants that you have a feeling might not be a real Thai dish? (There certainly are some!) I’d love to know what you think those are!
