Grilled Chicken Wraps (1)

Whether it’s lunch or dinner, wraps are so easy to throw together and I find them incredibly satisfying as well. These grilled chicken wraps are made with just a few ingredients: grilled chicken, cheese, black beans, cilantro, and a simple dressing. This is such a good way to use up leftover grilled chicken from the weekend or holiday grilling!

These Grilled Chicken Wraps have a Tex-Mex twist thanks to the dressing. It’s so simple, made of just two ingredients: mayonnaise and taco seasoning. But, oh my, it is addictive! I’ll be adding it to everything: sandwiches, burgers, and using it as a dip for roasted veggies. I can’t get enough!

What is a Chicken Wrap made of?

  • Chicken: Boneless skinless grilled chicken breasts. My Grilled Cilantro Lime Chicken recipe would taste delicious in these wraps! You can substitute grilled turkey if desired.
  • Tortillas: I used 6 large white tortillas. Use your favorite flavor! Whole wheat or spinach would be delicious.
  • Tomatoes: I prefer cherry or grape tomatoes because they burst with flavor in every bite, however, you can add whatever tomatoes you have on hand.
  • Black beans: For ease, I opted for canned black beans. If you want to use dried, this Instant Pot recipe is so easy!
  • Cheese: Either mozzarella or cheddar is great in this recipe.
  • Cilantro: Chopped cilantro adds so much fresh flavor to these wraps. Parsley could work in a pinch, but for that Tex-Mex flavor go for cilantro.
  • Olive oil: This is optional, it’s for toasting the Grilled Chicken Wraps, which I highly recommend.

The Dressing:

  • Mayonnaise: Regular mayonnaise or try fat-free if you’re keeping it light!
  • Taco seasoning: Any taco seasoning will work. If there is no salt, adjust the seasoning to your taste.

Tips For Success

  • Don’t overstuff: Overstuffing the tortillas may cause the wraps to rip. Sometimes less is more!
  • Switch up the meat: Add grilled, turkey breast, shrimp, salmon, or steak instead of chicken.
  • Add extra veggies: Bell peppers, sautéed onion slices, and sautéed zucchini would all be delicious additions to this recipe.
  • Use up leftovers: This is a great way to use up leftover grilled chicken from a cookout.
  • Store the fillings separately from the wraps in an airtight container for up to three days. The wraps may get soggy if they are stored with the filling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a grilled chicken wrap fattening?

Not really! These healthy chicken wraps are loaded with lean chicken breasts, beans, vegetables with a little cheese, and Mexican mayo. If you’re concerned about the amount of fat, try using reduced-fat cheese and mayonnaise.

How do you wrap a chicken wrap?

Begin by placing the filling in the middle of the tortilla. Then, fold the side closest to you over the filling first, followed by each side. Finally, roll the wrap away from you so that it is completely sealed.

Is wrap healthier than bread?

Between bread and wraps, there isn’t much nutritional difference. The main is that the bread is leavened with yeast and the wrap is flat. One wrap and two slices of commercially baked bread have comparable nutrition.
