National identity reflects how an individual chooses to classify themself.

Applicable to England Wales
Coverage All Students at providers in Wales where EntryProfile.PERMADDCOUNTRY = XI where Engagement.INCOMINGEXCHANGE does not exist.

Optional, but strongly encouraged, for all Students at providers in England where Course.TTCID = 01 or 02.

Must not be returned outside of the stated coverage.

Notes

This data must be returned for all students in coverage at the start of their Engagement i.e. by the end of the reference period in which their first associated StudentCourseSession begins. If the data is not known by the provider 99 'Not available' should be returned in NationalIdentity.NATIOND

This data must be updated throughout a Student's Engagement where applicable.

A student can identify themselves as having up to two national identities.
