Navage Nasal Care | Troubleshooting (1)

First Things First

The Naväge Nose Cleaner will only operate when a new Naväge SaltPod capsule has been placed in the crushing chamber and the lid has been clicked shut – if you reopen the lid, the power button will no longer work.

Close your soft palate

It may take a few tries, but you will soon master the machine. Separate your nasal cavity from your oral cavity by closing your soft palate.You can try lifting your tongue up and back to the roof of your mouth before starting irrigation.You can also try singing or saying "hung" while holding your tongue against the roof of your mouth to help close your soft palate.

Adjust the flow direction

Rotate the nasal dock 180 degrees to change the direction of the saline slow.You can try irrigating in both directions.Changing the direction of flow at least once a week is recommended.

Don't push too hard

Pushing too hard can block the pillow tips against the nasal wall, which can reduce or stop suction and cause water to go down your throat.

Wiggle the nose pillows

The nose pillows should be snug with some wiggle room. Slightly moving the nose pillows around in your nostrils can help improve the seal. Once the cycle starts, pull back a little to increase the flow. Don’t block the tips against the inside walls of your nose. Less pressure usually results in more flow.

Keep your eye on the prize, and Naväge in your nose

Breathe normally through your mouth and try to relax. Persistence pays. You can read countless reviews
about the reward on the other side of the struggle: “Absolutely love this. Once you get the hang of it, it works better than anything I have ever bought! So, hang in there, it’s worth it!”

For the power button to work, check and make sure you’ve done the following:

  1. Place a new Naväge SaltPod capsule in the Crushing Chamber with the foil side facing down.
  2. Click the lid shut until it's firm.
  3. Gently shake the device for a couple of seconds to mix the SaltPod contents with the water in the Upper Tank

If you reopen the Lid, the Power Button will no longer work with that particular SaltPod, even if you re-close the Lid.

The reason the power button won’t work without a SaltPod is an important safety feature to avoid the painful stinging caused by running plain, unsalted water through your nose.

For effective nasal irrigation, there must be room in the nose for the rinse to go in one nostril and out the other. If you are extremely congested, space is limited in the nasal cavity and irrigating will be slow at first. You may need to start and stop a few times to loosen the mucus and break up the congestion. We suggest the following tips:

  1. Irrigate for about 10 seconds;
  2. Gently blow your nose;
  3. Rotate the Nasal Dock 180° to reverse the flow, and irrigate in the opposite direction for about 10 seconds;
  4. Gently blow your nose and relax for a couple of minutes;
  5. Rotate the Nasal Dock 180° again;
  6. Repeat until the rinse begins to flow into the bottom tank.

This repeated “back and forth” motion will help reduce congestion and allow the rinse to flow from one nostril to the other.
