What's a sun dog?

Not exactly folklore, but when seagulls circled in a big mass around our schoolyard (which was about 10 miles inland), we knew there was a storm coming.

Rain in may will fill the barn with corn and hay

I may have this wrong....my sister remembers rain on Palm Sunday, Rain on Easter Sunday?
My memory is Good Friday, sun .......Easter Sunday, rain or vice versa. Rain on Good Friday, sun on Easter Sunday

The locals used to say - cold, wet May, barn full of hay.

when you see vapor trails in the sky, rain is close by (usually within 3 days)

My father always said "If the snow stays on the ground 3 days, there will be more," and it seems generally true here in the South.

When all of the cows in a field are headed in the same direction, it will soon rain.
