Miracles happen and prayer works. After saying goodbye to Ambrose 17 hours after he was born, I still get to play, laugh, and snuggle with him almost 5 years later. His lungs were completely flat at birth and they didn’t open until his second day of life when we sent out a request for people of faith to pray for him. The doctors were amazed and many members of his medical team cried. The message for today….Pray. Pray for others. And let me know how I can pray for you. I’d be honored. #undividedlife #priorities #virtuousleadership

Today I am praying hard for Elaine Russett and family in Garden City KS. Elaine in in her 70’s and has ALS. Yesterday, she fell and broke her knee badly. The Garden City hospital is refusing to treat her injury because she has ALS and can’t stand and walk much anymore anyway. They want to send Elaine home with her knee all jumbled up and broken. This is outrageous and unethical. Not only will non-treatment speed Elaine’s continued loss of mobility, but an untreated badly broken knee will cause Elaine’s husband Fay (who is heroically living out his marriage vows by taking such good care of Elaine in his own old age) to not be able to take care of his wife in their home anymore. Heavenly Father, I humbly ask that you look upon your servant Elaine in her hospital bed, and her husband Fay beside her, who is crying. Have mercy on your children. May justice be done for this sweet elderly suffering lady by providing care for her injury. Send comfort to her heartbroken family. May the name of Jesus Christ be glorified in and through Fay and Elaine forever.

And the all-knowing and all-loving God heard those prayers, preordaining Ambrose to strike his future younger brother with a club to initiate, God willing, another round of answered prayers for healing and strength. 🙏

Of course Ambrose lived, because he had to grow up and whack his brother Benny in the head with a golf club a few years later. Sort of a George and Harry Bailey story. All part of God's glorious plan. It's absolutely a wonderful life!

Praying for Benedict every day! And how amazing that God orchestrated Ambrose to be part of the story of the identifying a problem to be treated for Benny. 🙏

Bad company cultures take a toll on many good people. I see it all the time. People who are delightful and dynamic outside of work become contributors to the demoralizing and dehumanizing cultures in their workplace. They act brashly, selfishly, and play by a “watch out for number one” mentality. Industry type and company size are irrelevant. I’ve seen this with airlines, energy companies, law firms, universities, nonprofits, churches, big tech, consulting and more. It was very evident on a flight this morning. But the opposite is also true. Engaging cultures that promote human flourishing, team-based problem solving, and the common good aid in the development and growth of everyone involved. Good cultures enhance the lives of everyone they touch. We need more good ones. Let’s make business human. #companyculture #undividedlife

My three-year-old son Benedict was just diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. While you can read the details of our story below, I want to first challenge business leaders and managers to ask themselves - have you created a culture where your employees can openly share the personal struggles they are facing without fearing that those details will be used against them, directly or indirectly? Or, if you are being honest, do leaders in your company marginalize employees during times of tragedy and personal struggle, and slowly strip them of responsibilities and future promotion? To some of you, the idea that a company culture could be so cruel at a time like this is completely foreign. I'm grateful that many company cultures and leaders lean in to help and actually provide pathways for continued growth and promotion, even during tough times. For many others, your experience is vastly different. You have shared with me how you have suffered in silence so as not to get noticed during some of the toughest life moments. You have witnessed how leaders engage in closed door discussions and seemingly write-off a worker during their time of need as if they are just an asset that has reached the end of it's usefulness within the company. Those stories break my heart and my prayer is that all of us, regardless of title or tenure, strive to make business human and infuse dignity throughout every aspect of our company cultures. An atypical approach produces atypical results. That is why I challenge audiences each week with a countercultural message for building great organizations that strive to make business human. The Undivided Life playbook illuminates a pathway to profitable, healthy growth and workplace excellence. It is built upon the basic principles of service to others, the common good, dignity, justice, just wages, solidarity, and agency. I didn’t develop this playbook, but I have decades of experience in successfully utilizing it. Want to hear more? I will be speaking several times over the next two weeks, and I would love for you to join us if possible. 🎤 Wednesday (4/17) - University of Dallas Student Government (private) 🎤 Thursday (4/18) – North Dallas Catholic Connection🎤 Friday (4/19) – Guadalupe Radio Network, KATH 910am – Undivided Intention🎤 Friday (4/19) – St Ann Men’s Summit Spring Fireside Chat🎤 Tuesday (4/23) – Enlisted Leadership Foundation, Foundry Class 22 (private)🎤 Thursday (4/25) – Artifex Group (Front Royal, VA)🎤 Friday (4/26) – Young Catholic Professionals National Leadership Summit, Board Member Workshop🎤 Saturday (4/27) – Young Catholic Professionals Mentor Lunch and St. Joseph’s Workshop💣 Every Monday and Friday - The BeatiDudes Podcast #companyculture #keynotespeaker #undividedlife

You shouldn’t need to be thanked for doing your job.A paycheck is “thank you” enough.❌ WRONG ❌ The same leaders who are using this faulty motivational logic are simultaneously seeking outside help to address employee burnout. You can begin to improve your organizational culture by starting with your own mindset.A paycheck isn’t a thank you, and a thank you doesn’t pay the bills, but when these elements are combined properly, you have two great ingredients for great culture building - dignity and just wages.#companyculture #personaldevelopment #undividedlife

“I recently learned about the CARPOOL program that is being developed by Jeff Schiefelbein. This program is going to fail. I am 200% against this project, and I urge you to join me in putting a stop to this effort.”It was the spring of 1999. Back then, we didn’t check email nonstop every day, and email distribution lists (listservs) were just becoming popular. Can you imagine my disappointment when I read the broadcast message that the director of the university police department had just sent to over 2,000 faculty and staff members at Texas A&M University? To say I was deflated would be an understatement. For the next few hours, I felt as if the months of research and rallying support were all coming to an end, and it made me sick to my stomach. My journey up to this point had already been paved with many ups and downs. read more 👇 https://lnkd.in/gpmDPhA3#personaldevelopment #mindset #undividedlife
