maybe the lead developers of KOTOR were not the same bioware employees as the lead developers of SWTOR?

The art in that trailer looked pretty decent, but the animation... god, the animation.

The entire game is cel-shaded, hand-drawn animation.

A lot of the old Bioware Employees are making this game. Another group of ex Bioware people called Beamdog are working on a new Baldur's Gate game as well.

Do not be so quick to make foolish offers, Daemon. Araghast too once thought I would be an asset to his cause. Look what has become of him.

Sorry for bringing this off topic, but I am excited at the prospect of the older Bioware Employees making their own studios.

Soo, Banner Saga. Looks interesting, art style is neat, animation could be better. Hopefully we get a non voiced PC so there's more dialogue options.

Is is really "cel-shaded" if it's full-on 2D animation?

The animations and general art style look great imo. I hope the grid for the turnbased combat gets bigger over the course of the game. The current grid is a tad small for my liking. I winced a bit at the overly paraphrased dialogue options but aside from that if the combat is great then this should be a game worth looking forward to after all.

Gaming could use more 2D and cell shading.

It looks like Viking Patapon.

Which would be AWESOME.

Hmmmmm. The General idea and the art looks awesome. The animation and voice-acting need some SERIOUS work. I will be still keeping my eye on it.

(Also I really hope the game WONT have voice-acted dialogues.)

Yay! KOTOR was my first RPG so it has a special place in my heart, and I'm excited about this new game. It has potential.

Instead, I have learned a horrible truth of existence...some stories have no meaning.

Listening carefully to the dialog, it seems that the game takes place just after Ragnarok, and the Vikes are having difficulty adjusting.

The Banner Saga, by the lead developers of KOTOR (26) I totally missed that while I was trying not to laugh at So Bad, It's Good Voice acting. Now that has some potential.

Ragnarok is supposed to end with two humans alive. But, whatever. Certainly a more interesting After the End scenario than most

I found some dev comments on another site:

Hi! I'm one of the guys from Stoic and we noticed this thread going so I figured I'd mention a few things. First thing we noticed was a lot of comments on was the bioware style dialogue. I had no idea people hate it so passionately! Fortunately, what we're going for is more like The Witcher- your dialogue only branches when there's an important decision to be made. We're also going to be showing the full response options instead of ME-style paraphrasing. For our announcement trailer we wanted to show there is branching dialogue, and this was an example of that. That exact conversation probably won't happen in the game. Bottom line is we want the player to be in control of how they say something and we want what you say to be important.

Definitely looks like there's a wide range of opinion on the art style. For the record, the guy who referenced Sleeping Beauty is dead on- we're absolutely going for the art style that Eyvind Earle created. Amazing artist. Hopefully we evolve it a little further towards Eyvind Earle to the point that people don't think it "looks like f*cking sh*t, made for flash and screams "casual"".

On that note, the gameplay isn't casual at all really. We're really big fans of Tactics, X-COM and Shining Force and we're shooting for a pretty deep strategy game with an emphasis on strategy. We don't plan on having a learning curve as steep as something like Dominions 3, but we're not aiming at the Zynga crowd, either. We're aiming at the kind of players who like FF Tactics, King of Dragon Pass and Mount and Blade, mainly because that's what we like.

That sounds pretty f*cking cool to be honest. I think I'll definitely be following this game.

My ears perked up at the Shining Force reference.
